The Fall Edit

Fall always feels like a return to real life. School starts. Dinner needs to happen at a reasonable hour again. We spend more time at home, and the routines we happily abandoned for summer suddenly matter.

This fall, I’m thinking about the things that make those ordinary days work a little better — and what makes them feel a little more worth celebrating.

Make the Mundane Memorable

Somewhere along the way, it became easy to treat ordinary life as the space between the good parts of life – the things to speed through as quickly as possible to get to the next adventure and the next accomplishment.

I’m finally learning that the ordinary days are the good parts.

Julia, Not in Paris is about building a life you’re actually participating in — cooking something worth sitting down for, making home a place you want to be, growing things, gathering people, and occasionally making more of an occasion than the occasion requires.
